Your rights in England

Your deposit
Capped at 5 weeks' rent, or 6 at £50,000 a year or more, and protected in an approved scheme within 30 days.
Repairs
Your home must be fit to live in, and your landlord must keep up repairs. Report problems in writing, with photos.
Pets
You can ask to keep a pet. Your landlord must not unreasonably refuse, and must reply in writing within 28 days.
Ending your tenancy
Tenancies in England are now periodic. You can end yours with at least 2 months' notice, and no-fault Section 21 evictions are gone.
